What is NTP servers for? and is it better to have more?

So in modem settings i can add NTP servers and i don't know what the use of them are for? is it better to have more than just 1?

why do you need more than one ntp server then? isn't one enough?

@JOSHMISTY if you have like 5 servers for example you can use the internet NTP config to see all of the servers infomation, storage and more. its not used most of the time if you are using home internet but really thats it.

@66063NTP servers are short for Network Timed Protocol servers (aka what nexus said)
basically, it's a watch that servers can use to keep track of time, but most likely all your electronics already have an NTP server
my only guess for good use in a home network is to synchronize every device's or server's time but seems like too much work lol

The only reason I've changed my NTP server is to adjust my Linux server's time if it was wrong. It's not really something the average user or even a power user would ever need to touch.
