2k is a very flexable price point, so ill be making a few builds depending on the quality you might be playing a game at. These builds have no astetic qualities so if you want rgb fans or cases, you can make those adjustments yourself. They also assume you will be running over ethernet as well as have your own mouse, keyboard, monitor and headset. If you need those items as well, i can give some sugestions. More notes at the bottom.

1080P Build
Cpu: AMD Ryzen 5 5500 (~140 USD) (6 cores with 12 threads.) (Room for upgrade if you need more power, but games are generally GPU bottlenecked instead of CPU.)

Cpu Cooler: Stock

Motherboard: MSI B450 TOMAHAWK MAX (~110 USD) (Bios update might be needed to use Ryzen 5000 series)

Graphics Card: EVGA GeForce RTX 2060 (240 USD) (Good 1080P card but will show its age soon)
OR
RTX 3060 (340 USD MSRP.) (These cannot be found for msrp new at the moment. My recomendation is to buy it used or wait and buy this part last.)

RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3200 (~60 USD) (Ryzen cpu's use faster ram more efficently then intel. DDR4-3600 can be used if you are willing to pay the premium.)

StorageTEAMGROUP GX2 512 GB (~40 USD) (Teamgroup makes budget friendly SSD's and RAM. If you would like better known options, be prepared to pay name brand premium's.)

Seagate Barracuda Compute 2 TB (~50 USD) (Hard drives have very little performance difrences between them. If you want to swap this drive with a smaller one or a cheeper one, go for it.)

Case: Corsair 4000D Airflow (~100 USD) (Generic PC case, can be swapped with whatever you want.) (Remember to also buy case fans. Fans are easy to overspend on and i would recomend you NOT buy overpriced name brand.)

Case Fans: Corsair AF140 (2018) 140 mm Fans 2-Pack + Single Fan (~55 USD) (Corsair fans because the case is corsair, change this to save money if you don't care about all fans being same brand.)

Power Supply: EVGA SuperNOVA 650W 80+ Gold Fully Modular (~80 USD) (Gold power ratings are my personal bottom line.) (650W for support for a new graphics card if needed.)

PC Part Picker list: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/NXPRwc
Total Estimated Price Using RTX 3060: 975 USD
Total Estimated Price Using RTX 2060: 875 USD

@allennova Sounds solid, could be a good PC for almost everything I can imagine, as for the keyboard I have some recommendations but it all depends on what he wants (i'm a keyboard lover)

4K Build

CPU: Intel Core i7-12700K (~380 USD) (12th gen has an issue with its IHS causing tempratures to be unusually hot. A backet is needed to correct this.)

CPU Cooler: NZXT Kraken X63 240mm (~130 USD) (240mm might not be enough cooling if you are doing overclocking)

Motherboard: Asus PRIME B660-PLUS D4 (~140 USD)

Graphics Card: Nvidia RTX 3080 (~700 USD) (Harder to find for MSRP but outperforms the 6900 XT in some cases.)

RAM: Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro SL 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR4-3600 (~120 USD) (64GB of ram is overkill unless streaming, rendering, graphic designing or using virtual machines regularly)

Storage: Samsung 980 Pro 1 TB M.2 (~130 USD) (One of the best performing SSD's on the market. Can be swapped if price is a concern.)

Seagate Barracuda Compute 4 TB 3.5" 5400RPM Hard Drive (~80 USD)

Case: Corsair iCUE 4000X RGB (~145 USD) (RGB case looks nice but costs a bit extra. Swap if money is a issue)

Case Fans: Corsair iCUE SP120 RGB ELITE (~25 USD) (check notes for case)

Power Supply: Corsair RM (2021) 750 W 80+ Gold Fully Modular (~100 USD)

Estimated Parts Cost: ~1950 USD
