Whats so bad about insecure HWID logging?

so uhm what if i want to make an key sys (NO NOT GONNA MAKE ONE) and i use hwids to keep track of the time the key has been used and i store the hwids not secure enough, would it be bad and why?

It's a matter of personal privacy, and it's a flawed design in nature (often what you get by adding digital rights management to client software - it never is failproof). You would likely store HWIDs associated with IP addreses - quite a no-no in terms of anyone who actually cares about their privacy, as it wouldn't be hard for you to figure out what someone's IP address is just by knowing their PC's specifications, or vice-versa. That's ignoring the fact that depending on the HWID system, it can be bypassed very easily either via software means (tons of software available for specific HWID spoofing), or hardware by swapping a component or hard drive out, or even adding another.
