How come people say "applications" instead of exploits on the discord server?

Due to discord's policy users are encouraged to use the phrase application in replacement for the phrase “exploit”. Discord purges servers/accounts caught violating their terms, speech about exploiting/cheating/hacking is not tolerated by discord's policy.
