Hey, I recently put my laptop to sleep to take over to my dad's house and then I woke it up and... Black screen. No backlight. Hard drive still sounds like there is activity on it, but I am not getting any video output. I don't want to press and hold the power button because I have things that I was working on that I hadn't saved, and I don't want to lose them.

All help is appreciated.

Specs (if helpful):

Computer: Lenovo IdeaPad Y510P

Graphics: Nvidia GeForce 755M (2x Crossfire)

Processor: 8x Intel Core i7

Memory: 16 GB (upgraded from factory 8 GB)

Operating System: Windows 7 (Enterprise I think) (64-bit)

Hard drive: 1 TB

Hook it up to an external display like a TV and see what happens. If it shows, then save your work and give it a reboot

@Ducxy Thanks for the suggestion, but I just now tried with both my HDMI and VGA port on the side of the laptop, and it did not give any signal to either monitor.

Perhaps to get my work I could try to figure out some way to dump the RAM. Like, as in opening up the computer and using a device to extract the data off of the RAM.

@Carson_Dev

You could try remotely connecting to your laptop too. Find its local IP on your network (you can do it from router)

and open RDP on another machine.

Also dont try to extract ram data. Thats for 1 probably all in some sort of machine code/binary, and 2 you can potentially kill your ram or your laptop.

Did you loosen any wires or mess with the screen or anything?

@Ducxy I'll try that, thanks

@Moon And no, it's just that when you put it to sleep it has a chance of never waking up again. This same problem has happened tons of times before, it's just that this time, I had valuable unsaved data that I don't want to lose...
